Might it be time for a road trip to Oakland to support our brothers and sisters who are under attack? This aggression must be met with overwhelming numbers! What was a 1000 peaceful demonstrators will be 10,000, what was 10,000 will soon be 100,000. The over the top use of force makes it clear that there's fear in the ranks of law enforcement. It's time to capitalize on that fear. If Occupy Oakland requests our numbers we should deploy.

Agreed!

Whenever police take down encampments and use force against its citizens, I think it's time we join forces and show strength in numbers. Not just Oakland but South Gate and any other place in California where this will happen.
Oakland definitely needs us right now. I think we should plan something in the near future where we can coordinate with other occupy movements in California and make a trip to Oakland. I'm not sure who could undertake something like that. Maybe one of the committees but it would be great if California could stand together in solidarity in one place to show the numbers of people that are involved with this movement. Jerry Brown has yet to say something and maybe if he sees a mass of his own people he'll find something to say.
I'm sure if we work together we can figure out how to carpool over there.
An Attack On One Is An Attack On All!

We must! We need to get in touch with those in Oakland and coordinate a day, meeting spot, and a time. How about Sat. Nov. 5th 2011 at a location to be determined. The mayor of Oakland and the top brass of OPD have made a massive long term tactical blunder. There's gonna be tens of thousands of people on the street. Are the police going to block off every public street, are they going to arrest thousands, do they even have the resource to do so, if so, then how about a hundred thousand next time? What the OPD and other aggressive police departments around the country fail to understand is that we are socially connected and this movement is not going to stop! It certainly is not going to stop by throwing women down on the pavement and arresting them, firing tear gas and rubber bullets at peaceful protesters, and threatening to use a military sound cannon on the civilian population! An attack on one is an attack on all. The people of California must support Occupy Oakland.
Governor Brown lift your silence!

Greetings everyone...I think we need to do something but a road trip, what happens when we leave, will they continue to attack the people? Maybe we can find another solution. I will continue to read blogs and suggestions, but if they plan a trip maybe I will be going to Oakland also.. Someone once said..Cant we all just get along...guess not..

I don't think it's necessary

I don't think it's necessary for everyone to go to Oakland, if the concern is that no one will be left at the OLA site. But we can surely encourage some people to go and represent. I don't actually camp at OLA since I have a full time job and school but I go when I can. I can definitely give up a weekend to drive to Oakland. It's like a 6-7 hour drive depending on traffic and speeds. I think it would be great if a couple of hundred people can go.
I'm just not sure how to coordinate something like that. It would be great if we can charter a bus or something along those lines so everyone can be together. But it could be expensive, I don't know how to organize something like that. Anyone out there have ideas? Know a charter company?
We can also just have volunteers who can fit people in their cars and everyone drive in small groups. I'm not sure what would make more sense in terms of cost and resources.
But I think this needs to be bigger than just OLA. We need to find others in other California occupations to come out and represent. It would almost be like a california convention or something to show state unity for the oakland folks and show their mayor and our governor that these kinds of attacks cannot be condone in a state as progressive as California.
If you have any ideas of how to actually make this happen, please chime in.

The brutal force used in OAKLAND to disburse peaceful protesters was 100% unneeded!!! this shows that we clearly becoming a police state, our constitutional rights are no longer valid in which the gov't has become incompetent and we must join together and fight to end this! i believe some of us need to go band together with others in OAKLAND but we must also band together here in LOS ANGELES and strengthen our movement here as well as it has been done in NEW YORK, SAN FRANCISCO and other states!!! we must send a message out to all the corporate theives!!

California Occupies Oakland

I'm for sending a contingant in support of our brothers and sisters in Oakland. If we give it a weeks time, set a date, use the weekend to gain larger numbers and coordinate with other California, Nevada, and Oregon occupations we could be looking at a large presesnce in Oakland by next week.
