It is the morning of the 58^th day of Occupy Los Angeles. I am not physically at the occupation, but my heart still is. We were scheduled to go to a conference, which will lead to making a stronger network for all occupy cities. I know some people on the ground in Los Angeles are unhappy I left, not realizing I am of more use on the ground continuing to work and lend support, then I would be protesting and put in jail. I am currently waiting on the results of Councilman Rosenthals call for a temporary hold. Remember the city council did sign a resolution in support of us!

I have seen Occupy Los Angeles do things that are not possible elsewhere. We have the largest full time occupation in the country. Until this week, we have been able to have an incredible working relationship with our city council, the LAPD, and the LAFD. Yet it seems for some reason many think this is not what we should be doing. Why this is, and what agenda they have I do not know. It seems to me lack of consideration for others has become more important that personal accountability, and holding people accountable for their actions.

I have watched so many people leave this movement, because they feel disenfranchised, stifled, and unheard. I have watched support wane, as the supporters of the movement have watched what we have allowed to happen. We have allowed a hostile takeover of our occupation, by people who do not have its best interests in mind. They want to see violence, mayhem, and police brutality. They thrive on the bad energy they have created, while many of us suffer from it.

From the first week here we have dealt with violence and theft, which put many on edge. In the first 10 days I slept less than 15 hours, as I had to constantly be awake for security. I have been working on our security team since the night I got here. I keep being told we lack enough security. In my mind we are all security, and need to act as such.

As for this movement, accountability is the word, and I have not seen people being held accountable for their actions, when they do something negative against the movement, but those who have been working a considerable amount of time, and have put forth an amazing amount of effort are now being judged and held accountable based on rumors, and false information. They have no problem lynching someone they see as a “leader in the movement” yet they cannot be bothered holding those accountable who have tried to destroy it.

I wish people could step back, get out of their programmed patterns and look at the big picture. We had an amazing opportunity to gain momentum and become the hub for the entire occupation. Sadly I feel we have let that slip through our fingers, and now those of us who wanted to see this movement move forward are left wondering where it will stand by tonights end.

My idea for where we should go next is to keep a presence at city hall, as well as to build camps all over the city. The occupation is a movement, not a place. We can occupy many spaces, and by doing just that we will increase the amount of visibility in Los Angeles. Its Day 58, and people still have no idea that there is anything going on in Los Angeles, so we have to put it in their faces!

The project that I am working on involves people from multiple occupations, and this inter-occupational work is highly important to keep the movement moving forward, and to facilitate the transfer of information between the occupations in a more secure matter. This is very important as our next moves need to be onto bigger and better things. We cannot let the forces that want to keep us from succeeding to do so.

As I sit here and type, I wonder how tonight will be handled. I know many will not leave, and I am hoping that things are handled by the various enforcement agencies without endangering those who are there. The way these evictions have gone across the country have been extremely violent, and prove that the American citizens have lost control of our nation. It seems our government forgot who they work for, which is the people, not the banks and corporations. I hope that the enforcement agencies also realize that soon they will be at our sides in protest, as they are losing their benefits, overtime, and retirement. Its only a matter of time before they lose their homes and lively hoods as this system continues to crumble, and with less money for infrastructure, it seems its only going to be a matter of time before they lose everything too.

I hope that the arresting agencies rethink the motivation behind the eviction, as we don't believe the mayor has the power to do it, I mean seriously, he didn't have the power to let us sleep on the lawn either, remember?

Tonight I will be working on disseminating information as it comes into me, monitoring the live feeds, and worrying about my people. This would be the same thing I would be doing if I were in LA, as this is what my position within the occupation entails. Today my free time will be spent updating information, and rallying support behind the occupiers, and hope that with enough eyes and cameras anyone who does try to do us wrong gets caught in the act. Its about accountability.

And in my opinion the accountability of the occupiers leaving is to go occupy everywhere! Even if they do fence in city hall lawn, we still have plenty of streets to take. We also need to focus less on the protest grounds, and more on the long term sustainability of the movement. We can take the occupation on tour, on every street of Los Angeles if we put our minds to it!
