Sitting in a studio, the clock is ticking. Your heart races, your mind is running even faster, you check every detail of your broadcast, the chat is going well, you advertise like crazy, you sponsor a professional radio show and voilà, the camera is on and you broadcast your show. Well, it didn't go exactly as like that, but after the bugs get straightened out, the kinks ironed out, the show ran flawlessly.
That show Insight Out News with Margot Paez.
The news went well. Operating on a shoe-string budget, the three camera shoot worked well. Margot, the independent news reporter whose Mission Statement: going where no (mainstream) reporter has gone before: to find the truth. did exactly that. No other show did what she is doing. Granted, the topics may have been covered on the Thom Hartmann Show or the Mike Malloy Show or even the Head On Radio Network with Bob Kincaid, yet none of these talk show hosts have the time to go anywhere necessary to get the story. The talk show hosts receive their information from grassroots group either on their radio show or on T.V. or yes on the Internet, but Margot manages to go out into the trenches where the real battle is located, get that shot or story and broadcast on the Internet to anyone interested in listening/watching.
The show had listeners from HORN and Mike Malloy watching and chatting about the program, viewers were encouraging Margot and the guests as the show continued on. During the show in the Post Mike Malloy/HORN Skype chat, friends, behind Margot's back were enthralled by the show and compliments went around. The show, though Margot being critical of herself, is truly a breath of fresh air from the usual MSM shows. The chat room was lively and the people were polite...in other words, no trolls...yet. The show asked the tough questions about foreclosure.
It's folks like Margot who will take broadcast journalism to new heights. Progressive talk show host Nicole Sandler from radioornot.com and host for the Randi Rhodes Show said on her Internet Show, the Internet will be the new medium for broadcasting. Cars will be installed with receivers to pick up signals from antennas and you can choose what you want to hear. The radio business of building aerials will be something of the past. Advertisers will flock to Internet shows and beg for ad time to have their product sold. So Margot is going in the right direction
Even Mike Malloy mentioned that Margot will be the cutting edge of broacast journalism. Who knows, according to Malloy, when it will be part of the norm. Five years? 10 years? Whenever it is, Margot will be the pioneer of Internet radio. A small personnel operation reaching out to more than 7 billion people worldwide.
Margot's show is on www.ioutnews.org from 8 p.m. PST 11 p.m. EST on Thursdays. Watch the show, learn, enjoy and meet like-minded folks in the chat. I saw folks from OWSLA. Lets support Margot by visting her site Thursday and support true listner-sponsored Internet radio.
