This is the best idea I've heard yet

What better way to send a meesage to the gov't that we don't approve of what they are doing than by cutting off funding to them?

The following video mentions that along with other solutions:

boycott taxes

A boycott isn't a boycott unless everyone does it. I hope we continue to get everyone in the world on board. The economic system that runds society was developed due to war and terror of the past. We have the money and opportunity to allow everyone to just follow there dreams and we can run society much better.

That boycott is not going to happen

People are afraid. The idea of an Almigthy IRS has been incepted in people's mind generation after generation. We are conditioned to obey like robots. As a matter of fact, if you lose your job and the government pays you unemployment benefits, which is money you already worked for and was deducted from your paycheck in previous years, you still have to pay taxes. Imagine, jobless and being forced to pay taxes. The only way that people assume Cindy Sheehan's position of declaring a war against the IRS is that they lose everything. Mrs. Sheehan lost her son in Iraq. Her son was everything. She decided to stop paying taxes because she is not going to contribute with more wars.

Are you going to follow her?

Re: That boycott is not going to happen

If that's true then what's the point of the May 1st general strike? What's the point of ANY of this? If OWS doesn't have the balls to do a tax boycott then we all might as well head home with our tails between our legs.

Sorry, but to me a general strike on May 1st is equivalent to one of those completely ineffective "Don't buy Gas" on this certain day campaigns.

This strike is not about a

This strike is not about a "Tax boycott" its about an everything boycott. Join us. Put an end to this consumerism zombie cult we have maintained all this time. Turn off your TV, get out into the streets!

My words represent myself and not Occupy Los Angeles. @lizsavage on Twitter

I realize it's not a tax

I realize it's not a tax boycott. I think the only effective boycott the OWS movement or anyone who opposes the immoral actions of our Government could do, would be to cut off funding (tax dollars) to them.

Liz, what's so wrong with Capitalism? Is that really what's wrong with this country or is it the politicians teaming up with the big bankers to create regulations that only their buddies get to bypass? Is is capitalism, or is it the revolving door that lobbyists and politicians go through to ensure that they have a straglehold on this country?

What's so bad if I have a service or product to offer and I want to sell it to people in my community? I'm not trying to rip them off, I'm just trying to earn a living and in return I will purchase their products and services. THAT is how a healthy community is supposed to function. Don't blame it on Capitalism when it's really a greedy network composed of politicians, policy makers and big banks that prop up systems designed to siphon money away from the individuals by making it impossible for community based economies. Instead there is a Wal-mart conveniently located in every community or some other equally fucked up corporate entity that the masses continue to patron.

The attack on "Capitalism" is why this movement has lost support and will never gain the support of the majority. I liked it better in the beginning when we were fighting the true source of the problem - the corruption. It's not Capitalism that breeds greed and corruption - it's money that does. The greed and corruption will exist no matter system is in place unless you take control away from the central power and return it to the local communities.
