"Excuse me, your doing what?"

On almost a daily basis I hear the same thing again and again; “Isn't Occupy over?” The answer is pretty clear: NO!

All across the nation Occupy is still rolling along. In some places it is completely hidden away due to climate, or even due to unpopularity with local governments, and having to move meetings indoors. As spring begins we will see a re-awakening of the movement, and I believe the momentum will only build from there.

March 17th is the 6 month anniversary of Occupy Wall Street. OLA will be 6 months old on April 1st. On March 17th there are solidarity actions planned all across the nation, including here in Los Angeles. We plan on having a fun an educational “Street Fair” across from City Hall on Spring and 1st at noon.

After our Street fair, “Out and Occupy” is having a “Queer Themed” GA, followed by an action nearby. We meet at LA LIVE at 4PM for this event.

Every Friday we are Occupying Main Street after GA, and all are welcome to join us! Last Friday we had 9 tents, and about 25 Occupiers, it was a warm night, and our 3rd week was successful. We were woken up at 6:10 am by the LAPD, as city ordinance states you must have your tent up by 6 AM.

Another thing we have going on is Occupying foreclosed homes. Our Occupy Fights Foreclosures Committee is working with families who are losing their homes, facing eviction, and shedding light on all the fraud perpetrated by the banks and lenders against the home owners. I am currently at a foreclosed home with a few other occupiers doing sheriff watch. This is my third time here since we have been working with this homeowner, and its an amazing accomplishment to help them prove the fraudulent activities against them, and keep the sheriff at bay.

Sheriff watches are important, having that visual of having support from the community is a big deal, and come April we will be occupying 99 homes. If you are interested in occupying with a foreclosed family, full time or part time please let us know! We are also looking for food donations to feed the small groups of occupiers at the homes, and the families we are working with.
