Principles of Solidarity ////Working Draft
Through a direct democratic process… we have come together as individuals and crafted these principles of solidarity, which are points of unity that include but are not limited to: Engaging in direct and transparent participatory democracy; Exercising personal and collective responsibility; Recognizing individuals’ inherent privilege and the influence it has on all interactions; Empowering one another against all forms of oppression; Redefining how labor is valued; The sanctity of individual privacy; The belief that education is human right; and Endeavoring to practice and support wide application of open source. We are daring to imagine a new socio-political and economic alternative that offers greater possibility of equality. We are consolidating the other proposed principles of solidarity, after which demands will follow.

8:45 pm, Jeremy and Laura: [HE READS] What… How… Why…
Questions on the Proposal
8:51 pm, Barry: One cannot come to a conclusion… my amendment is…
Lance: amendments will be during the round of Amendments… not now.
Jeremy: [RAMBLES KNOWLEDGABLY ON THE FINER POINTS OF THE ROUGH CONSENSUS PROPOSAL].
Jeff: Did you speak with Patrick about this? […]
Jeremy: Yes.
Scott: If something procedural comes up to the GA and do we need an administerial thing?
Concerns on the Proposal
[NONE]
Friendly Amendments
If you have a friendly amendment, could you at least try it for a week [EXPERIMENTAL PHASE].
[BACK TO] Concerns on the Proposal
Can we add that people should be present? And, can we announce a convention?
Jeremy: We’ve considered [your previous] proposal of 51%.
[HARD BLOCKED] The journey of the minority is… of the majority.
Would you be okay with us trying it for a week?
Yes.
Jeremy: [Considers] presenting a ‘Tyranny of the Majority’ versus a ‘Tyranny of the Minority’.
HardBlocker: [SPEAKS]
Concerns
Maybe we should vote constantly or consistently. We should make sure all our information is disseminated so we all know what’s up.
What I see is that it is the 1% that hijacks the proposal.
Jeremy: Our concern was to clarify the process and to make sure that no voice was [ever] left out. We found that when people don’t do their due diligence around the power of clarity surrounding their proposals it is very difficult to reach a consensus. A 90%... …general consent of the model… …Remember that Rosa Parks was only the one percent on the bus.
Daniil: I believe that ninety-nine percent is much more fair and empowering than ninety percent.
I think the ninety-percent rule… …creates factions of people.
Jeremy: We’re always going to have factions…
9:19 pm: Lance: …amendment is… …practicing the process with the amendment… …for one week.
9:21 pm: Regina: [YELLS] I have a hard block. …
9:22 pm: Mike: I have concerns about… this very important issue… 95%.
9:23 pm:
9:23 pm, Lance: Do we want to keep going on this issue?
…
[CONSENSUS WAS REACHED ON THIS PROPOSAL WITH FRIENDLY AMENDMENTS].
Affinity Group Proposals
I suggest we… …filter… for… is this historical, creative, or …
Regina: How are we going to filter? Who is going to do the filtering?
[THIS WAS DEEMED ‘NOT’ A PROPOSAL, BUT A SUGGESTION]
We started Occupy Southgate four days ago. We were on the news… …but today the police came and asks us to leave… he gave me a ticket. Tomorrow we’re having a meeting at 8550 California Avenue, Manchester Blvd and California Avenue.
9:32 pm, Barry: Proposal to allocate five to ten minutes time for a meeting on Wednesday. [CONSENSUS WAS REACHED].
9:33 pm, , : Throughout the twenty days that we’ve been here we’ve been dancing around the worker’s issues…
9:34 pm, : We need to consider what Barry was saying… [HE ASKS BARRY AND HANDS BARRY THE MICROPHONE].
[HECKLER CONTINUES TO YELL “WE NEVER DO ANYTHING BUT WASTE EVERYBODY’S TIME].
9:41 pm, Max: Teacher of Economics Class at Finance Tent: I’m proposing that we ask people for a solutions committee …a broad base of an idea … giving people thirty seconds to advance an idea and have people advancing the idea by working on the idea.

9:46 pm: What [this is an ‘Affinity Group’ and not a ‘Committee’].
