Driver Falls Asleep While Driving and Crashes into Country Kitchen Restaurant on North Chester Avenue in Oildale

Bakersfield, California (January 9, 2017) – According to a California Highway Patrol report, a waitress and a car driver were injured Monday morning after a car ran into an Oildale restaurant.

The incident occurred at about 7:30 today when a car driven by a 25-year-old woman heading southbound on North Chester Avenue veered off the road and crashed her car into the Country Kitchen restaurant.

The driver and a waitress in the restaurant suffered minor injuries in the crash. Two small children were inside the car but were not injured.

Paramedics responded to the scene, but it was not clear if anyone was hospitalized.


The police said that the car was driving at about 30 mph and the driver may have fallen asleep leading to the crash.
