Uber Vehicle Crash with Another Car At Cochran Street and Sycamore Drive Killing Off-Duty LAPD Officer

Simi Valley, California (January 1, 2017) – A 30-year-old female LAPD officer was killed early Sunday morning after two cars collided in Simi Valley, according to a police report.

The accident took place at about 2:11 a.m. today between an Uber vehicle and a car at the intersection of Cochran Street and Sycamore Drive.

An off-duty Los Angeles Police Department Officer, identified as Heather Monroe, 30, of Simi Valley, was killed in the crash.

Two other persons, the driver of the Uber Car and the driver of the other car were injured in the crash and were both taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Reportedly, the Uber was heading eastbound on Cochran Street while the other car was heading south on Sycamore Drive when the two vehicles crashed at the intersection.

No further information was provided regarding the crash.


The police are investigating the crash to determine if speed, alcohol or narcotics played a role in the fatal crash.
