Parking

The cheapest parking I know of in the area would be at Union Station about .5mi away.

Parking is available in the Gateway Center Garage located under the Patsaouras Transit Plaza. The entrance is on Vignes Street. The daily rate is $6, with a 30-day limit. Payment is accepted using cash and major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, and American Express). The parking garage is patrolled regularly by security officers.

After we set up we may find local residential parking, but I am not familiar with the area.

Parking Option: The North East Corner and the South West corner of Olympic and Olive Street has 5 dollar parking. It is often free on the weekend. The only time the lot fills up is if there is major event at the staples center, which there is not on Saturday. It's a 15 min walk to Pershing square from there. Just under a mile. You can leave your car there over night without a problem. Even onwards into monday (or later) if you plan on staying for awhile (I had friends that would visit from out of town and they would park there for a whole week). They won't tow you, but you may be asked to pay an additional 5 dollars for each day you stay passed the first 24 hours. It's about as safe (and cheap) an area as you are going to get downtown. it's very close to the staples center and right across the street from FIDM.
