Passion, Persistence and Pursuit for the Great Good as Occupiers of Los Angeles

People are often misled into believing that the Occupy Movement is merely a way to pass the time for the homeless, unemployed or lost souls of society. The mainstream media portrays occupiers as degenerates, anarchists and overall menaces to society and unfortunately, this is what is being fed to the general public.

The aformentioned notion couldn't be further from the truth. The Occupy Movement is a movement of passion, persistence and the pursuit of the greater good. Solidarity and peace are unifiying principles that have kept our movement alive when others believed it would fade. Occupiers are fighting for our rights as the exploited people of a Capitalist System. We live in a world where it is okay to reject a three-thousand dollar birthday cake or demolish a 12 million dollar home just because you have the means and because those items may not be up to your particular spoiled standards. This type behavior and entitlement is absolutely disgusting when considering how many others in society are struggling to find work, worrying where their next meal is going to come from or watching the doors shut on their foreclosed homes.

During the beginning of Occupy Los Angeles, I was moved to see the comradery and the assembly of like minded people who have had enough of Capitalist System that sees us as mere pawns. I was amazed that people were coming together in pursuit of something greater than themselves. They were coming together in pursuit of a greater good that would benefit all members of society, not just the priveleged few who have reaped the rewards of an unjust system. Occupiers are important factors in creating awareness. It is the awareness and education of the people that will make the pursuit come alive and as long as we remain persistent the message will spread!
