For those that aren't aware, there are at least 3 very easy ways to design a transit route from whereveer you are in the Metro area to the occupation, which will occur at 1st & Main streets, Downtown Los Angeles.
GOOGLE TRANSIT is my favorite. It has a great interface and allows you to move the route based on your preference for travel time or bus/train -- http://tinyurl.com/3d3podm for directions to the occupation
LA METRO has a website that allows you to plug in two addresses as well, as well an apps for your smartphone -- http://socaltransport.org/tm_pub_start.php for the trip planner or www.metro,net for the main page.
If you are away from all forms of internet, you can call 511 in Metro LA and be directed to an operator who will tell you exactly how to get from where you are to 1st & Main over the telephone.
See you there!

OC to Downtown LA on Public Transportation October 1st

An inexpensive & fairly quick way to get into LA from OC (or Long Beach) on public transportation is taking the Metro Blue Line from Long Beach. I park at the Willow Station which is off of Willow/Long Beach Blvd (easily accessible from 405 freeway). Lots of parking on the weekend. Take the Blue Line till it ends at 7th Street. Then take the Red Line towards Union Station and exit at Pershing Square (for early meet up) or exit at Civic Center (for 10am meetup). It's $1.50 each way, but I usually buy an all day pass for $5.00. Trains run pretty regular and fairly late into the evening.
IMPORTANT: I can't seem to get a straight answer on this but there is a chance that they might still be doing construction on the Long Beach Blue Line on Oct 1st. It's kind of a hassle but not impossible. If there is construction, they end the route at Grand (2 stops short of 7th Street Metro) and then load you on to a bus and take you to the final destination of 7th Street Metro (no extra charge). http://www.metro.net/around/rail/blue-line/
There are also Metrolink trains running from OC to LA. Trains originate in Oceanside/San Diego County and end at Union Station. Costs more and trains don't run near as often as as late as Long Beach Blue Line. And also Amtrak trains (most expensive but comfy).

I will be leaving Costa Mesa early on Saturday (6:30am-ish) and will parking at the Willow Station and then taking the Blue Line. I can take one passenger to the train station with me. I am not camping out at this time (sorry - I have a good reason) so I will be returning Saturday night, time unkown.

Not knowing nor it being easily revealed, I found myself at 12:30 AM sitting 1/2 hr alone in Metro rail [Vermont & Wilshire] until someone came out to inform me no trains went to No Hollywood weeknite from 12:26am to 4 am....surprised me! Same with rapid 720 on Wilshire Blvd...only local runs late. so be sure to check schedules for any LATE NIGHT travel being done. I assumed a big city ran all nite, but not everywhere nor regularly. CHECK YOUR SCHEDULE if late travel anticipated.
