    Two Killed in Hollywood H 101 Freeway and Barham Boulevard Overpass Crash

    Hollywood, California (February 5, 2017) – According to a California Highway Patrol report, two women died and two men were critically injured Wednesday night after a van careened off an overpass and landed onto a Hollywood freeway.

    The fatal crash occurred around 7:20 p.m. on the southbound side of 101 Freeway, north of Highland Avenue and near to the Barham Boulevard. Reportedly, a van, with two women and a man on board, breached a barrier near Barham Blvd overpass and launched over northbound lanes of 101 Freeway.  The vehicle landed on the center divider, hit a vehicle in the southbound lanes and caused significant damage to both vehicles. A third vehicle reportedly suffered minor damage in the collision, but it was not immediately clear how the car was involved.

    As per the CHP report, the two women believed to be in their 50s or 60s who were in the van were killed in the crash. The third occupant, a man in his 60s was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

    A 48-year-old man, the driver and sole occupant of the second car, was also taken to a local hospital in serious to critical conditions

    No one in the third vehicle was injured.


    The accident remains under investigation.
